I haven’t been following all the new TLD requests, but saw a press release today on dot jobs.
Employ Media LLC, the licensed operator of the .JOBS Top Level Domain (TLD), is pleased to announce the ICANN Board of Directors yesterday approved its request for a Phased Allocation Program of domain names consisting of Industry, Occupation, Geographic, and Dictionary terms.
This means we’re moving a step closer to .JOBS being available not only to specific companies using their businessname.JOBS, but also to generic names such as plumbing.JOBS. This, in my opinion, is a valuable addition to TLDs. The release also states:
Mr. Embrescia states that next steps will involve an Expressions of Interest (EOI) period with details soon to follow. “We realize there has been extraordinary interest in .JOBS from many facets of the HR community. We hope the EOI period will serve as an open invitation to the community to participate.”
If you’d like to see some .JOBS in action, check out the list at Goto.Jobs where you’ll see companies like Walgreens, eBay, and others.
