Afternic is the marketplace GoDaddy bought in 2013 and built its aftermarket around. List a domain there and it doesn't just sit on Afternic's site. It appears in the registration search results at GoDaddy and dozens of partner registrars, which is where most end users find domains without ever knowing they went through a marketplace.

That distribution is the reason to use it. A buyer typing your domain into a registrar search sees "available for $2,995" instead of "taken," and a meaningful share of aftermarket sales happen exactly that way.

Commissions run in the 15 to 25 percent range depending on how the sale comes in, and the Fast Transfer opt-in lets network sales close without you lifting a finger. Most active investors list on Afternic and Sedo both, since they reach different buyers.
