EPP Status Codes

Every domain carries one or more status codes set by the registrar or the registry. They're the closest thing to a health readout a domain has, and they show up in any WHOIS or RDAP lookup.

The ones you'll see most: ok means nothing special is going on. clientTransferProhibited is the normal transfer lock, and it has to come off before the domain can move. clientHold or serverHold means the domain has been pulled from DNS, usually for an unverified email, a dispute or non-payment. autoRenewPeriod means it expired and the registry renewed it provisionally while the registrar decides whether to keep it. redemptionPeriod means it's been deleted but the owner can still pay to get it back. pendingDelete means it's gone in about five days and nobody can stop it.

Codes that start with "client" were set by the registrar. Codes that start with "server" were set by the registry, and those are much harder to get removed.
