General Availability (GA)

General Availability is the point in a new TLD's launch when the doors open to everyone. The sunrise period for trademark holders is over, any landrush or early access pricing has run out, and names go to whoever registers them first at the normal price.

For domain investors, GA day is where most of the action on a new extension happens. The best generic names either got taken in sunrise, sold at a premium during early access, or were held back by the registry as premiums with elevated prices. What's left at GA is what's left.

The phrase is borrowed from software, where it means the same thing. Most people in the industry just say "the launch."
