OK.gov Wins Two Awards

by Mike Sullivan

Is the official Oklahoma state website.  OK.gov won the Best State and Local Government Marketing and Best Creative Marketing Program given by the GovMark Council, a not-for-profit agency focused on the government technology market.  The state has really put some effort into the site making it very usable for the residence of the state.  The award focused on two areas of the site.  First, the ability to allow city residence to pay bills online for any services provided by the government.  Second is the site’s “Go Green” campaign.

In addition, the site recently released a free Android app which allows quick look ups of state agencies, professional license searches and government news.  This is a great example of the government making making good use of their web space and serving the people.  Oklahoma Interactive, LLC actually operates the site as well as maintaining and marketing it.  I like the idea of having an outside firm consult the state for a better outcome and more usability for it’s citizens.
